When I'm Gone
About

A small thing today, an enormous gift later.

When I'm Gone is a private, encrypted journal that gathers the practical information your family will need when you're no longer here. Not your passwords. The pointers - where the will is, who your solicitor is, which accounts exist, what you wanted at your funeral.

Why this exists

When my grandad died, my family spent weeks sat at his kitchen table with a cardboard box, piecing together what he'd left behind. There were accounts no-one knew existed, a will we couldn't find for days, a funeral plan nobody had heard of, and a hundred small wishes we had to guess at. The grief was hard enough. The hunting was cruel.

When I'm Gone is the small, simple thing I wish he'd had the time to do for us. It isn't a will. It isn't clever. It's a private place to write down where things are and what you'd want, so the people you love aren't searching in the dark.

If it spares one family a single afternoon of that, it's done its job.

What it is, and what it isn't

It is a practical companion to a will: the address book and instruction manual that a will doesn't cover.

It isn't a will. It isn't legal advice. It isn't a password manager. And it isn't a service that can read your information - even if we wanted to, we couldn't. Everything is encrypted on your device before anything leaves it.
